World Tournament Thoughts Upcoming
I returned from the ISC World Tournament that took place in Fargo, North Dakota, last night. In the coming days I will be posting some thoughts on the tournament as well as the changes that will be implemented for next year's tournament in Eau Claire.
Broken Bow finished off a very nice tournament by winning the championship 4-2 over County Materials. It was a fantastic championship game marred only by a considerable rain delay. Perhaps the most interesting of "Bow" games was the one versus the Farm, in which they battled back several times and won the game with a walk-off two-run home run in the bottom of the eighth inning.
More thoughts to come...

Midland gets #1 seed from pool
In an unbelievable turn of events the Midland Explorers grabbed the #1 seed from Pool F at the ISC World Tournament by run-ruling Fedlock, the top team in their pool, and holding the necessary tie-breakers. Unfortunately they will go up against the Broken Bow Spirit in their opening tournament play game. Still, you have to give them credit after losing their ace pitcher, Doug Gillis to a muscle pull in their second pool play game.
The IS Knights Fargo club lost big in their final pool play game and enter the tournament with only one life. Still, with Michael White anything is possible.
You can find all of the scores and stats at the ISC site, and you can listen to the games (and watch the championship on Saturday) at SportsJuice.com.

You gotta love it
You gotta love the ISC World Tournament. After watching games all day it made the drive in late last night worth it.
The day started out on the wrong foot with Frankenmuth losing a tight one by a 3-0 final (a game that was scoreless for most of it). It ended well with Midland sneaking by Page Break by a score of 1-0. It included Fargo taking their second game (to go to 2-0) by a score of 3-0. Michael White struck out eighteen (18) Bloomington Stix batters in that game!
Perhaps one of the greatest moments occurred in the Midland game when a Page Break player disputed a call at first base and the umpire, rather than move toward the disgruntled player and engage in an argument, took a long walk to right field and back to first in order to allow tempers to cool and not end the night for anyone. I'm not always pro-umpire, but we do need them. This was a classy move by umpire Tim Whitelaw.
