The
Warroad High School boys hockey team will play the U.S. Women's National Team tonight. I can only wonder what either team has to gain.
It will be male vs. female at 7:30 tonight when the Warriors face off against the U.S. Olympic women's hockey team at The Gardens Arena in Warroad in front of what is expected to be a capacity crowd.
Dennis Fermoyle, co-coach of the Warriors, is as curious as anyone about what to expect when his boys take the ice against the nation's top women's team.
Whatever team loses, it is going to be relatively sad for that team. These are the best women in the world in hockey, and if they lose to a high school team, what does that say? At the same time, should high school "boys" (who are practically men) be losing to the women?
I think this opens up a huge opportunity for ridicule almost regardless of the results. I don't get it, though it is fairly intriguing.
