First of all, shame on the Republicans for allowing this to happen. Even though they cried, rightfully so, that Democrats had no plan, it is clear that Republicans weren’t different enough from Democrats to warrant a vote. A miserable effort in Iraq, ridiculous spending habits, and not enough walking the walk for conservative Christians who put them in control of the country has put the party in a bad spot. President Bush is mostly to blame for this and his legacy may very well dwell in this most miserable outcome, on November 7, 2006. Particularly when JP Stevens steps down from the high court and he can’t get anyone through with the upcoming Presidential Election approaching.
Shame on the voters for not understanding the stakes. For those who voted for “change” (with no measurable promise of what that change means) and for those who didn’t find it important enough to vote, all of you are guilty. Millions of babies stand a better chance of being slaughtered in far faster and a far worse manner than what is going on in Iraq, Afghanistan, and 9.11 combined, and voters can take the blame for that. Soon, barring great favor from God, Marriage will be between any number and combination of men, women, and animals (if you think I’m nuts, just wait 20 years and see). We will probably even just resign to sending our entire paycheck to the government to pay for more crappy schools, universal (crappy) health care, and for women to have abortions complimentary of all of us.
It is said that God helps those who help themselves. I guess we sat around waiting for a gift, and we were taught a lesson. For some of us that lesson is this evening. For others they will only know when the damage has been done.
Forgive us, Lord, for we know not what we do. And please have mercy on us.
