As if John McCain knows anything about the economy…he has repeatedly claimed he does not have that expertise…and he “still needs to be educated.” Even if he did know more than Obama, I don’t think that is saying anything at all really. They both seemed pretty clueless about it, and John McCain has openly admitted multiple times he knows little to nothing about economics.
I think you could say the same for most presidential nominees which is why we don’t depend on one person to run our country, but an entire (too-large) team.
This is a silly point to even make regarding McCain. The fact is, he does know how to solve the problems we’ve had. He’s continuously fought for the solutions while many in his party haven’t. I know many people like you think that Ron Paul is the one with all the answers, and he very well might be, but he’s completely irrelevant. I think it would be wise in this election to vote for the “lesser of two evils” as I’m sure you’re considering it and start working on the next candidate who can do what you want. It will do no service to people like you, Dave, to allow for a guy like Barrack Obama into office. The Republican Party, as it is, will be energized to put anyone (whoever the most popular Republican is at the time) into office in 2012 and you will continue to find your guy irrelevant.
A vote for anyone but McCain is a vote for Obama. It’s a cliche, but it’s the harsh reality.

I have made it openly clear I will not play the ‘lesser of the two evil game’ that has been going on….forever. I’m wondering what ‘solutions’ he’s fought for regarding the economy. Actually as far as I’m concerned most people in neither party have pushed for the proper solutions, so I don’t see that as a valid point. And I am not considering at all for voting for mccain, maybe if he changed his views on foreign policy, his approach to the economy (support of the bailout…ah…should’ve opposed it), among other issues. I don’t see much positive in a McCain presidency i.m.o. and even if you do think Ron Paul is ‘completely irrelevant’ you should consider the people waking up and not voting for McCain, mainly due to him. I’m one of them, I think I can honestly say if it was not for him I would be voting for McCain, but now that I have actually looked into issues I will not be voting for McCain. Paul might be irrelevant to you, but he’s not to me. I will follow his lead and vote for Chuck Baldwin for President. Me voting for McCain would be me wasting MY vote. My stance is clear, REAL change needs to happen, and I would be going against everything I stand for as far as voting. When I go to the polls, I vote for the candidate that has the views CLOSEST to mine. McCain is leagues away.
If you want a reason why you should vote for McCain, it certainly should be enough for a Libertarian to just vote based on the differences of an Obama court vs. a McCain court. Pretty soon you won’t have to worry about who the President is — everything will be tied up in a liberal court that rules based on a “living constitution.” If that doesn’t make you sick enough to vote for someone who can win, I don’t know what will.
I’m not trying to convince you to vote for McCain on his national defense stance or his economical stance. I’m saying that you should be very aware of the alternative.
The only way that Paul or Baldwin are relevant are if people like you make them relevant way earlier than October of election year (and then count me in). Until then, you can’t convince me that your vote isn’t wasted. Go ahead and vote for Obama…er Baldwin…and watch things get REALLY bad. At least you will be able to take some solace in helping elect the first black president of the United States even if the country goes to hell in a handbasket. You’ll get your “real change” and you’ll get it fast.
