John Kerry goes on
another rant about the Iraq situation. This time he pretends he's the President of the United States. I can't tell if he thinks he won the last election or if he
plans on winning the next one.
Our mission in Iraq is harder because the administration ignored the advice of others, went in largely alone, underestimated the likelihood and power of the insurgency, sent in too few troops to secure the country, destroyed the Iraqi army through de-Baathification, failed to secure ammunition dumps, refused to recognize the urgency of training Iraqi security forces and did no postwar planning. A little humility would go a long way - coupled with a strategy to succeed.
[snip]
The administration must immediately draw up a detailed plan...
[snip]
The plan should be shared with Congress...
[snip]
If Iraqis adopt a constitution and hold elections as planned, support for the insurgency should fall...
[snip]
Hamstrung by its earlier lack of planning...
[snip]
But we need to give these nations a strategic plan...
Remember that? Remember all of those secret plans John Kerry had when he was running for President. Does he offer up any ideas? I don't see any in that "speech." But, regardless of the fact that Democrats have nothing further to offer, he should share his
plan with Congress and he should put his tail between his legs because he forgot to
plan in the first place.
John Kerry becomes more and more of a joke every day. He should have gone away like Gore did in 2000, but he keeps coming back for more
embarassment.
