Four coaches in the last five years. Darryl himself, Jim Playfair, Mike Keenan (2 years) and Brent Sutter. Alot of change. When Darryl moved up to the front office to take over as GM, he felt that Playfair was ready to takeover the big club. He wasn’t so Mike Keenan was brought in. Mike a personal favorite of mine had a rocky start, what else is new, but after awhile things seemed to be ok. They qualified for the playoffs in both of his seasons, but were eliminated in the first round by San Jose in 2008 and Chicago in 2009. Keenan was fired with one year left on his contract and brother Brent was brought in for this season. That explains the coaching carousel. There were complaints that Playfair was too soft, Keenan was too tough and had no system. Brent was just as tough as Keenan, had a system, and still they had problems. Like missing the playoffs competely.
