There is still time left on the clock and I don't want to get ahead of myself, but I think things might be working out as well as could be for Team USA at the World Junior Hockey Championships. If they can hold on and beat Finland, they will face Sweden tomorrow night. While I think Sweden is the best team in the tournament, I don't think they are completely a speed team and will challenge the tired legs of the US club.
Canada plays an early game against Switzerland tomorrow, a team that will be hard to stay up against. It's likely to be a 5+ difference and there will be plenty of time to lose some intensity, the same way the US team has tonight. Unfortunately for them, they won't play the next day. That same fact is what will help USA get their legs back and be ready for another emotional battle for gold.
I think it's going to be very difficult for Team USA to beat Sweden tomorrow night. That being said, other than if they would have held on versus Canada the other night and achieved the bye to the semifinals, I think the second-best situation has presented itself to the United States.
Go USA!
