I was reading
a post at the Troglodyte -- well, actually
the comments as I noticed there was one more than when I commented on it (as a side note, where is the Trog?) -- and the next guy who commented said this:
I have heard that dems were involved in the Abramoff scandal. While not a dem.. I hope that's not true. The Republicans deserve to go down for this one, and a guilty dem will mean nothing but blameshifting.
Now, I hope that as few of people as possible were involved in this scandal, but I hope each and every person who was involved in this thing is caught. I can't be positive that this guy is or isn't a Democrat, but his post does smell of anti-Republicanism (and I'm not a Republican, either). The tone of a comment like that is terribly misguided because it begs that Democrats weren't involved, while blanketing all Republicans as being guilty. If it only takes one or a few Republicans to convict the rest, then the same standards must be applied for the Democrats. Guilty is guilty, and it's independent of your party affiliation.
In any case, the point of this post wasn't a commentary on Jack Abramoff or any guilty Republicans or Democrats in turn. This situation only made me curious about what the
commenter's blog had on it. I came across a post where he listed 15 things that he doesn't care about (and, I guess, won't blog about). There were any number of things listed, from the Israeli/Palestinian conflict to professional sports to blogs centered around the writer's children.
One of my favorite sites on the internet (and really a timewaster if you employ it often), is
technorati.com. It is a great blog search tool, and if anything piques your interest at any given time, type a search in there and you can find a ton of people who are interested in the same thing at the same time. One interesting thing about the site is a number on the front page: "Search 26.7 million blogs for the latest on:"
I'm not sure how many blogs are actually out there, but technorati.com claims that the site seaches 26.7 million blogs. The point of this? Feel free to not read my blog if you don't want Catholicism, professional sport, and pictures of kids. Don't read my blog if you don't want political talk (especially around election times) or frequent talk about the abomination that is abortion, euthanasia, cloning, homosexuality, or embryonic stem cell research. Don't read my blog if there are enough other ones out there that are more interesting to you.
For your information, you probably won't find pictures of dogs here. You probably won't find me putting up some lame comparison pictures of President Bush and a monkey (while harmless, these kinds of things are a-dime-a-dozen). And you most certainly won't hear me talking Metallica or Def Leppard (unless it's a mention of a lead singer o.d.ing or going to prison or both).
There is so much of this stuff out there (somewhere equal to or greater than 26.7 million), that it baffles me that people will take the time to ridicule individual's interests. If you don't like what you see, find another blog. It's fun that people read this stuff, but I'd probably do it even if they didn't.
Then again, a blog about what you won't blog about may be interesting to some...
Please keep all pregnant women, pre-born children, and their families in your prayers today. Between my sister-in-law, a friend, and a cousin, there are a few dicey situations at the forefront right now. I would be eternally grateful for any prayers for these three in particular, but also for all pregnant women.
May these three deliver healthy babies for the greater glory of God, and may the mothers remain healthy and safe for the benefit of their families now and for many years to come.
(We ask this through our common mother, Mary, and her chaste spouse, Joseph, to Christ, our Lord. May Pope John Paul II grant us miraculous intercession).
Thank you to all who have prayed and continue to pray for
my sister-in-law. So far our will has been in accordance with God's, as he has granted us great favor. My sister-in-law was discharged from St. Mary's (Mayo Clinic) yesterday and is resting with her husband (my brother) at home. She will have plenty of tests and rehabilitation in the near future, but this is incredible news and an unbelievable turnaround from where we were just one week ago.
Please continue to pray for her as she has plenty to overcome, including vision and hearing problems and mobility issues. With God's help she can make a full recovery. Also, please pray for their unborn baby boy (I should say "pre-born"), and for all expecting families.
Please also pray for all doctors, nurses, lab technicians, and other medical workers. I am amazed at the quality of care at St. Joseph's hospital, in St. Paul, as well as at St. Mary's in Rochester.

My brother's wife (of 23 years) had some bleeding in her brain. Things were a bit dicey for a while, but their baby is fine and she seems to be making a solid recovery at the Mayo Clinic. I ask that any and all readers please keep her in their prayers. From the news we had on Thursday to where things are today, we've had a miraculous turnaround. More on this later, but please pray for the intercession of John Paul II, our common Mother, Mary, and all the angels and saints, to the Lord, our God. May his wife and pre-born child be safe and healthy for many, many years to come.
