DENVER — Los Angeles Dodgers left fielder Manny Ramirez is headed to the Chicago White Sox on Monday is what is looking like a straight waiver claim, a league source with knowledge of the situation said Sunday on condition of anonymity.
There is probably as good of a chance this will hurt the Sox as that it will help them. However, if it helps them it could help them huge.
11. Theresa Collett vs. Betty McCollum, Minnesota’s 4th District.
Reasons the challenger should have no chance: This is a D+13 district; McCollum won it in 2008 by 37 percentage points.
Reasons the challenger has a chance: Upon winning the primary, Collett, a University of St. Thomas law professor, challenged McCollum to four debates. She’s still waiting for a reply. On the stump, Collett makes her points in a crisp, clear, direct style. Outgoing governor Tim Pawlenty is giving Collett some help. Collett is severely underfunded, but McCollum has only $160,634 in cash on hand as of July 21, which is fairly low for an incumbent.
Help Teresa out if you can!
If you’re a hockey fan then you’re going to want to be aboard the Miss Midland this Saturday.
That’s because former NHL head coach Mike Keenan is putting on a cruise to raise funds for a new hockey rink being built in Port McNicoll. And there will be prizes that any NHL fan would drool over.
Nice participation for this fundraiser!
It was sobering to see or to realize that the president, like most of the rest of us, needed a little pew time. I would not presume to urge the Obama family to re-engage in the custom, but I certainly wouldn’t mind. There must be a church in Washington that could accommodate him without the fellow having to go to the hot line in the Oval Office.
I can’t push for such a development because it might be interpreted that I am invading his privacy or not respecting his rights. I just can’t think of another president who compelled a poll seeking to find out what religion he practices.
Sources told the Star Tribune that the Vikings have offered to increase Favre’s salary to $16 million guaranteed — $3 million more than he was scheduled to make this season, plus another $4 million in incentives that could potentially pay Favre $20 million total for the 2010 season.
Apparently one of Favre’s demands is to sign a deal that would go through the possible lockout season. If he wants a 3-year deal, give it to him! As soon as his streak is over he probably won’t start another season anyway.
He will be back. After the whirlwind yesterday, I’m firmly convinced we are in no different spot than we were when yesterday started.
Windows site Neowin.net, by way of a Twitter reply from Microsoft’s Australian offices, points out that every copy of Office allows for legitimate installation on one primary computer and a “portable device,” which for all intents and purposes means a laptop.
Guillen, who is from Venezuela, said when he went to see his son, Oney, in Class-A, the team had a translator for a Korean prospect who “made more money than the players.
Can’t make this guy up. I hope he’s managing in the league for many years to come.
Did Betty intentionally omit “under God”? You decide…
Vote for Teresa Collett! We need God’s help in this country or our situation is only going to get worse.
Carlson says that request of abortion backers to refrain from receiving the sacrament is not “mean or judgmental” but the Catholic Church is “simply acknowledging the fact that such a stance is objectively and seriously sinful and is radically inconsistent with the Christian way of life.
It is nice to see our Bishops (finally) standing firm and prominent on this issue. Huge damage has been done, and we can’t afford to let silence lead to more damage.
